Workforce Development · Pre-Apprenticeship

Build a career in construction.

A paid, hands-on pre-apprenticeship — in partnership with Illinois Works — that prepares Woodlawn residents to enter a U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship or employment in the trades. All are welcome, especially people of color, women, and veterans.

The program

Our Construction Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program.

At Project H.O.O.D., we recognize the vital role economic empowerment plays in transforming lives and communities. For the past several years, our construction training program has helped aspiring individuals lay the foundation for a successful career in the dynamic world of construction.

Sponsored by Illinois Works, our pre-apprenticeship program provides those with an interest in the construction industry hands-on training to prepare to enter a Department of Labor apprenticeship or employment — while being paid.

What we offer

Skills, certifications, and a path.

In partnership with the State of Illinois, this comprehensive program equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel across construction trades — from basic construction techniques to safety protocols and project management fundamentals.
